Dr. Durlan Castro was a dedicated and highly respected healthcare professional whose life and career were defined by his commitment to helping others recover from soft tissue injuries. His passing in May 2026 is a profound loss to his patients, colleagues, and the broader Suffolk Physical Therapy & Chiropractic community.
Dr. Castro was known for his advanced clinical skill, particularly in soft tissue treatment techniques. He received specialized training directly from the creator, Michael Leahy, D.C., and went on to serve as an instructor of the technique, sharing his knowledge and helping advance the standard of care within the field. His approach to treatment was focused, efficient, and always centered on improving patient function and quality of life.
He was deeply valued by the patients he treated, many of whom relied on his expertise during some of the most difficult periods of their recovery. Within the Commack community and across the Suffolk Physical Therapy & Chiropractic organization, Dr. Castro was recognized for his professionalism, consistency, and dedication to clinical excellence.
Dr. Castro’s passion for healthcare was rooted in a lifelong interest in the human body and physical performance. Before entering the field of chiropractic care, he spent more than fifteen years involved in competitive bodybuilding and was a professional bodybuilder with the IFBB. This experience gave him a unique understanding of biomechanics, injury recovery, and rehabilitation, which ultimately shaped his clinical perspective and treatment philosophy.
His legacy lives on through the countless patients he helped, the practitioners he mentored, and the standard of care he helped uphold.
